Welcome to Chivers.dev. I’m Matthew, and this is the digital home of all my musings.

Originally, this blog was started to document my journey into the realms of cybersecurity. However, I now consider it to be more of a digital playground. Somewhere I can unravel the complexities of cybersecurity, but also share my enthusiasm for smart home technology, DIY projects, and a myriad of other (usually geeky) topics under the “if it fascinates me, it might intrigue you too” banner.

Who am I?

I’m Matthew, a Cloud DevOps engineer with an increasing interest in the realm of cybersecurity. My professional journey has been diverse, encompassing roles in system administration, web development, creating test frameworks, and participating in build/release teams. Currently, in what has become my longest-serving role, I am part of a team responsible for maintaining an Apache Kafka cloud service, mainly using Kubernetes and Golang to get the job done.

Why Follow My Journey?

Blogging about my exploration into cybersecurity, smart home tech, and various digital projects is my way of staying accountable. It’s a commitment to not just delve into these subjects, but to thoroughly explore and understand them in a way that is useful to myself (and others).

Chivers.dev is a digital ledger of my efforts and learnings. It’s a space where I document the ups and downs of my educational journey, the challenges I encounter, and the solutions I discover. While I hope you find the articles interesting (and hopefully insightful), the primary goal is to keep myself on track, ensuring I continue to learn, grow, and contribute to the ever-evolving tech landscape.
